Vallejo Police K-9 Trials

The Vallejo Police Department is proud to announce the return of the Jeff Azuar Memorial K-9 Trials. All active-duty or retired city, county, federal and military law enforcement K-9 teams are invited to attend this Western States Police Canine Association (WSPCA) sanctioned event.

Event Details

The 2015 Jeff Azuar Memorial K-9 Trial will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29, 2015 at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, CA. Friday’s competition will focus on narcotic detection and will not be open to the general public. Saturday’s competition will focus on patrol activities and will be open to the general public.​

Schedule

The narcotics detection competition will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015. This phase of the competition will not be open to the public in order to maintain fairness during scoring. Registration will open at 10:00 a.m., a handler meeting will be held at 10:45 a.m. and the competition will begin at 11:00 a.m.

At the conclusion of Friday’s competition the Vallejo Police K-9 Unit will host a BBQ for the competitors (and family) and awards ceremony.

The patrol phase of the trial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015. This phase of the competition will be open to the general public at no charge. First 100 youth will receive a free door prize. Teams will compete in obedience, agility, area search, apprehension and protection events. Registration will open at 8:00 a.m., a handler meeting will be held at 8:45 a.m. and the competition will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Following Saturday’s competition, the Vallejo Police Department will be hosting an awards banquet at McCormack Hall located on the fairgrounds. During the banquet there will be a raffle with a number of exciting prizes.
